Hurricane Relief Project

In 2017 as Hurricane Maria ravaged the island of Puerto Rico, Mogul created a series of polychrome wood reliefs that she photographed and compiled into a book that was used as a fundraiser for a group affected by the hurricane. Agua, Sol y Sereno, a theater collective and laboratory of learning received the funding which helped them continue their community theater work in the midst of destruction and loss.

This project posed the question of what artists can do to be active global citizens and help communities in need. Research and communication with individuals and organizations, brought Mogul into contact with this vibrant group of artists in Puerto Rico, that she would otherwise not have known. By arranging exhibitions of her reliefs and books as well as videos of the group Agua, Sol y Sereno, she created a ripple effect of awareness and a means for others to show their support. In doing so, she forged new and lasting relationships between communities and individuals.
